Photos from Doubtful Sounds Overnight, Queenstown & Lake Tekapo

Out on the Tasman Sea. The swells were meters high and the waves were crashing 10+ feet into the air. It was amazing. I've never been on an ocean like this, where it actually feels like the ocean is alive.

Fur seals on the rocks. We saw them closer up in the Abel Tasman, but not in the quantities we saw them in Doubtful Sound. There were at least a couple hundred across a few large rocks.

Dad.

Stunning view.

And again.

And again.

Me.

Fiordland penguins.

Me and Dad.

Me again. Beautiful backdrop, isn't it?!

Elizabeth and I on the path into town. I was leading the way and thought this way was going to be a shortcut. Turned out not to be a shortcut, but it was much more beautiful to walk along the lake than through the neighborhoods in town.

Mom under the Police sign.

Lake Tekapo

And again.

And again. You can't see too well from these photos but the lake was the most amazing arctic blue color. I've never seen anything like it. The color is caused by the minerals in the glacial/ice melt.

Mom with all her flowers.

Lake Tekapo there in the background.

And again here.

Mikey, our saving grace in Lake Tekapo, who worked at the star gazing shop na made sure we had a good dinner and a good breakfast despite our Ungodley accommodations.
