Photos from Singapore

Singapore - Day 1 - Thursday, December 11

Our first meal in Singapore at People's Park Hawker Center in Chinatown. Elizabeth is having Sweet & Sour Noodles, I am having my favorite, Xiao Long Bao (soup dumplings) and we are sharing a plate of cucumber. We are also both enjoying a local Singaporean beer , Tiger.

Me with my Tiger and my Xiao Long Bao. Heaven :) - Well the Xiao Long Bao, not the Tiger. I didn't even finish my beer.

The stall where we got the food from. We ate in Chinatown 3 times, and from this stall 2 times, while in Singapore.

Hawker Center.
Singapore - Day 2 - Friday, December 12

Breakfast of Champions. In the back we have 2 Fresh Lime Juices (essentially fresh Limeade). On the left is my dish, a tofu and egg combo that is deep fried and topped with fresh veggies and a peanut sauce. In the middle is some Eggplant. On the right is Elizabeth's dish, Gado-Gado, a veggie, tofu, and tempe combo with a spicy peanut sauce. This Gado-Gado is what we both had for breakfast ever other day in Singapore.

A street off Arab Street.

And another in the same area.

Elizabeth at the Marina Bay Sands hotel - probably the most iconic building here in Singapore.

Beautiful.

Here are the fake tree-like structures at Gardens by the Bay. You can see two in the foreground with the Marina Bay Sands hotel in the back. Yes, that entire buildings is a hotel with restaurants and an infinity pool on top.

And me.

A beautiful flower outside the ArtScience Museum.

And another.

Looking from the ArtScience Museum towards the helix (that bridge with the curved/twisting metal structure over the top - runs from left to right through the middle of the photo).

In front of the ArtScience Musuem.

More beautiful flowers!

And the CBD in the background.

A street in Chinatown.

And another. It really feels like you could be in China when you're in Chinatown.

Look what they're serving up at Mickey D's!

Flowers for sale in Little India.

Out on the town at Clarke Quay. Like my dress? I paid about US$5 for it that afternoon.

Here are Elizabeth and I with Guessy, Richard's girlfriend.

Me with a photo of some random man taped onto the bar at one of the places we went with Richard and Guessy. We never figured out who the man was or why his photo was there.

Singapore - Day 3 - Saturday, December 13

The outside of our breakfast restaurant, Minang, near Arab Street.

Look at this office building! So much green space on the office building. If you can't see well the next photo is a close up.

Now for the close up. Lots of building ins Singapore having living roofs or gardens here and there. This was an exception, however, for having just so much green space built into so many levels of the building. Amazing!

The Buddha Tooth Relic Temple in Chinatown.

Inside.

This little statue was maybe 6 inches tall. The walls we literally covered with these - maybe 5,000 in total.

A larger statue.

Here's a video I made inside the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple.

A christmas tree on Orchard Road. They really get into Christmas here!

Xiao Long Bao at DTF. Enough said.

Singapore - Day 4 - Sunday, December 14

The older asian woman who collects cardboard near Arab Street. You see these people all over town. I'm not sure how they fit into the whole recycling system in Singapore or where they go with the cardboard. Next time I'm in Singapore I'm going to follow one of them for a day and see what they do and where they go.

A cool bird we saw at the Botanic Gardens.

An orchid.

I'm not sure what this is...

So many beautiful Orchids.

And so many beautiful girls! ;)

Another orchid. Or is it an insect?

More.

And more.

Some pretty plant we saw in the cool house.

Singapore - Day 5 - Monday, December 15

Me out front of the Marina Bay Sands during out Marina Bay Walk.

Singapore - Day 6 - Tuesday, December 16

Gardens by the Bay by Night. Stunning!

With the Marina Bay Sands in the background.

Now it didn't actually look this cool in real life, but close. The camera did enhance the image by accident and in a good way.

Finally a photo of Richard. Resemblance to Thor? Anyone? Anyone? With Elizabeth here.

The three of us. I know we are dark but we stand L to R: Elizabeth, Richard, Me.

Richard admiring the view.

The Singapore Flyer in the background.

Singapore - Day 7 - Wednesday, December 17

Goodbye Haising Hotel, room 202. Hope we meet again!
